Race Report: KPC Members Shine at the Samoa IVF Va’a World Championships


Samoa IVF Va'a World Championship Race Results

Our KPC members recently traveled to Samoa to compete in the IVF Va’a World Championships, and we are thrilled to share their outstanding results with everyone! For those who had the opportunity to tune into the livestream, we hope you were just as exhilarated as we were when we heard about the incredible achievements of our team.

On the first day of the championships, August 14, both Mel Durban’s V6 Master 50 Women’s team and Dennis Silvestrone’s V6 Master 60 Men’s team showcased their remarkable skills, bringing home bronze medals. Mel Durban achieved a fantastic time of 2:12:07.3, while Dennis Silvestrone finished with an impressive time of 2:05:02.0.

Moving on to day two, August 15, Mel Durban brought home a gold medal for the V1 Master 60 Women’s category, setting a blazing time of 1:56:49.7.

As day three, August 16, unfolded, Leanne Stanley showcased her talent, claiming a fourth-place finish in the highly competitive V1 Master 40 Women’s category, with a time of 1:39:33.4. It was truly a commendable performance.

Lastly, on the final day of the championships, August 18, Leanne Stanley and Kelsey Siddall’s team amazed everyone by securing the top spot in the V6 Master 40 Women’s category. Their remarkable teamwork and sheer determination resulted in an astonishing time of 2:06:43.1, securing a well-deserved first place.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dennis Silvestrone, Jeremy Siddall, Mel Durban, Leanne Stanley, and Kelsey Siddall for representing KPC with immense pride and showcasing their skills on the international stage. We are incredibly proud of their remarkable achievements and hope that their success will inspire generations of paddlers to come. Congratulations, team KPC!
