In the past, we’ve enjoyed spending camp days outside rain and shine, only retreating to the covered space in rare instances of lightning. Our indoor spaces are unable to accommodate campers long-term, and with the increased threat of summer wildfire smoke in the Central Okanagan, it is necessary to have an updated plan in place to ensure the safety of our campers and staff.

Throughout camp sessions, KPC Staff will consult the Central Okanagan – Air Quality Health Index for updates on air quality. If our specific Kelowna Paddle Centre conditions are deemed unsafe ( 7+ on the Air Quality Index) for staff and campers by the Manager, we will reach out to all families, first via email then via phone call, by 8:00AM to cancel camp for the day. If your child has additional health concerns or sensitivities and must be withheld from camp, please let us know as soon as possible.

In the event that camp days are cancelled due to smoke, fire, or air-quality concerns, we will offer a refund for the total number of cancelled days. Refunds will not be offered for days that we run camps. These conditions pose a huge threat to outdoor recreation, agriculture, and environmental organizations, and we are grateful for your support and understanding.

Our Junior Paddling Programs are for children age 9 and above to join afterschool, where kids of varying experience level of paddling can come and improve their skills.
