2024 Outrigger Team Boat Programming

The mission of the Kelowna Paddle Centre (KPC) is to offer paddling opportunities to those who wish to achieve excellence through training and racing as well as to introduce new paddlers to recreational outrigger paddling.

Our goals moving forward are to build a well rounded club environment that provides opportunities for novice/intermediate paddlers to improve their skills, and learn from more experienced paddlers while at the same time supporting and encouraging competitive racing.

With the aim of building local, national and international teams, the Outrigger Team Boat Committee will help shape our policies to ensure all paddlers have the opportunity to race within competitive crews while still encouraging recreational paddling for those who wish to participate in a more relaxed capacity.

OC6 Crew Selection for Races/Events

Whether you are new to outrigger paddling, or a veteran, there are racing opportunities for all members who are interested.

For our newer paddlers, there is no need to be intimidated as we all started where you were at some point.  There are many events that have shorter distances, which we would recommend you try first, before advancing to some of the longer events.

The OC6 Committee hopes to see more crews out there representing KPC at various races this season.

Like last year, the OC6 Committee has decided to use a combination of self-selected crews and club-selected crews.

About one month before an event you will receive an electronic sign-up form via e-mail for that specific event.  You will have five days to fill out the form.  Upcoming events will be posted on a board outside the female change room.  If you do not receive an e-mail for sign-up please notify a staff member.

In order for this to work it is imperative that ALL INTERESTED paddlers fill in the electronic sign-up form, otherwise the Committee will have no idea as to the number of boats required, or if assistance is needed to fill a seat on a self-selected crew, or the number of paddlers interested for club-selected crews, etc.

We  anticipate sending KPC OC6 crews to the following races:
